Friends of BeethovenThere's a new Friends of Beethoven website which is in Beta right now.

Here's the link to have a look at it.

This site will allow members of FOB to maintain the site in a straightforward and easy manner along with updating the design with pictures and events from the Beethoven Elementary campus.

The site should be going live and will be the official FOB site in January 2012.

CalendarHave you seen the latest photo shown in the Beethoven Buzz taken last Friday? This is a classic. It's of many students on or around the apparatus. It was taken by school parent Kathy Vigil.

Kathy took the picture for the 2012 Disinguished Elementary School Application. Beethoven School was one a select group of LAUSD schools which were invited to apply this year.

    Thanks Kathy!

It can be hard to find our kids in it so here's a link to the picture in its original, high resolution glory so you can see everyone up close.

CalendarOn SUNDAY September 18th all day, eat and raise money for Beethoven.

Wahoo’s just opened a NEW location in Marina Del Rey on Lincoln Blvd off of Lincoln and Mindanao Way. They have invited Beethoven School and friends to come and eat there and they'll donate money to the school.

So, if you're watching the NFL games on Sunday or looking for a Sunday dinner solution, go to Wahoo's!

    Wahoo's Marina Del Rey
    4716C S. Lincoln Blvd
    Marina Del Rey, CA 90292
    Tel: 310.821.0300

A bit of background on Wahoo's:

The Wahoo's story begins in 1988, when the three Wahoo's brothers, Wing, Ed and Mingo, combined their love of surf and food to create a restaurant with an eclectic Mexican/Brazilian/Asian menu and a Hawaiian north-shore vibe.

    Here's the Wahoos menu.

Save and print off this flyer below to bring in to the restaurant. When you include it when paying, 20% of what you spend goes to Beethoven Elementary and Mark Twain. Also, please tell a friend about this exciting offer!

School NewsHere is a pic from the work being done on the playground field and track. Tractors and mounds of dirt can be seen in the playground area. This natural grass field and track should be available for use by students in early 2012. Great work by many Beethoven parents - including Jon Ayers - to make this happen. This will be a fantastic addition to the Beethoven campus.

     Dated:  Monday, June 20 2011 @ 08:26 PM PDT
Friends of BeethovenFRIDAY JUNE 24, 2011 IS A MINIMUM DAY. School will be dismissed at 12:35.
This is the last day of school. School will resume Wednesday September 7, 2011 at 8:10AM.

5TH GRADE CULMINATION DAY is Wednesday June 22, 2011. Culmination begins at 9:00AM in the Auditorium.

4TH GRADE PARENTS WE NEED YOUR HELP. It’s a tradition at Beethoven to have 4th Grade parents help with 5th Grade Culmination Day. Volunteers are needed on Wednesday June 22 from 10:00AM to approximately 11:30AM. Volunteers will set up and serve cake, coffee and punch to 5th Grade students and parents on Culmination Day and then clean up. Culmination will conclude around 10:30AM so we need all refreshments set up by then. Refreshments will be provided, we just need parents to host. If you can volunteer, please contact: Nadia at nadia@yoshioka.com. Remember, next year you will appreciate the 4th Grade parents hosting your child’s graduation. Thanks!

BEETHOVEN’S POPSICLE PLAYDATE IS AUGUST 27, 2011 from 10am to 12N. Please spread the word to any incoming Beethoven families that you may know.

A BIG THANKS to all who donated to and worked at the Beethoven Yard Sale. We made $652.

    TO ALL THE PARENTS....
A passage in a book summed it all up. “Imagine in your life you are juggling five balls... work, health, family, friends and integrity. Imagine work is a rubber ball, if you drop it, it will bounce back. Imagine health, family, friends and integrity are glass balls, if you drop them, they will either become scuffed, scratched or forever shattered.”

Parenthood is about the journey we help our children to take, the life experiences we give our children, and teaching them to let curiosity be their compass. It is a commitment that will forever change us. It teaches us a depth of love we never knew and patience we never thought we had.

We learn that it’s how we live our lives, what we give to this world, how we treat people, and speak of people, our connections with family and friends and our modeling that impacts who our children are and how they view their world and themselves. As our children grow into adults, we’ve hopefully given them the tools to step into the world with eagerness and a sense of adventure. We’ve hopefully taught them to have a generous and kind heart and a curious mind. We hopefully become better people in the process.

Thank you to all the parents who have contributed to the journey, volunteered their time and shown their children it takes a community to make change a reality. Have a wonderful summer!
